Hold on to thine cash
Aaaah, the comfort of e-banks. A couple of days ago my landlord came over with some bills to pay. Oh, no, I thought. Not another trip to my bank, not another hour spent in line to pay this damn bill. But then I remembered, that my bank (name withheld for security reasons!) recently opened access to traditional accounts via the 'Net. And I remembered, that I signed up for it. Yippie aye ooh! A couple of minutes and I had the bill paid. But then, I remembered - phishing, pharming. And I started to feel unsafe. The article on DNS poisoning from the last issue of hakin9 got me inspired. So, the next day, safely hidden under the company IP (if anything goes boom, I can always say I was testing a tutorial or something), I rolled out my browser, loaded it with google and started shooting around, aiming for a DNS fingerprinting tool. I really wanted to be sure, that all the largest DNS cache servers are secure and I really hoped, that their administrators know how bad BIND is and I'll find many djbdns installations around. They must be at least as cautious as I, I thought. I replaced BIND with djbdns more than two years ago; surely they must have done it by now as well.
